Cambridge BioMarketing Nominated for Best Pharmaceutical Website in the 14th Annual Webby Awards.

BOSTON (4.27.10) -- Cambridge BioMarketing, a full-service healthcare marketing communications agency located in the biotech community of Cambridge, Massachusetts, has been nominated for Best Pharmaceutical Website in the 14th Annual Webby Awards.

The nomination is for www.1000cranesofhope.com, developed for Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company.

The website allows users to post "wishes" online in the form of an origami crane and share them with a community of cancer patients, families of patients, and healthcare providers.

In Japan, an ancient legend promises that a person who folds 1,000 origami cranes, or senbazuru, will be granted a wish. Often, the wish is for recovery from serious disease. The website expresses Millennium's unified mission to cure cancer across cultures and continents.

The website is an element of a larger program that includes an installation at Millennium's headquarters, a tradeshow booth, and an interactive kiosk.

"Nominees like Cambridge BioMarketing are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. "It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 10,000 entries we received this year."

"It's an honor to be nominated for such a compelling and important project as the 1000 Cranes of Hope project," said Steve West, Cambridge BioMarketing CEO and Chief Creative Officer. "It also speaks to the increasing need to build quality programs across a wide array of channels and technologies."

As a nominee, www.1000cranesofhope.com is also eligible to win a Webby People's Voice Award, which is voted online by the global Web community. From now until April 29, 2010, fans can cast their votes in the Webby People's Voice Awards at webby.aol.com.

Winners will be announced on May 4, 2010, and honored at a star-studded ceremony in New York City on June 14, where they will have an opportunity to deliver one of the Webby Awards' famous five-word speeches. Past Webby Award winners — and their speeches — include Al Gore ("Please don't recount this vote."), Stephen Colbert ("Me. Me. Me. Me. Me."), and Michel Gondry ("Keyboards are full of germs.").

The Webby Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 650-person judging academy whose members include Internet co-inventor Vinton Cerf, R/GA's Chief Bob Greenberg, Simpson's creator Matt Groening, Arianna Huffington, and Harvey Weinstein.
