Finding the patients.

How Tolerx and CB branded a groundbreaking clinical trial—and found the patients for it.

The Challenge

Tolerx is developing a new drug, otelixizumab, that has the potential to transform the treatment of type 1 diabetes. For the DEFEND trial, the therapy must be administered within 90 days of initial diagnosis in patients aged 12 to 45 years old. This time constraint creates a significant obstacle to trial recruitment efforts.

The Solution

Together, CB and Tolerx named and branded the trial, then developed an integrated digital marketing and outreach plan. To accelerate recruitment, CB also developed a website and interactive FAQ module specifically designed to help potential patients (and their families) quickly learn about the disease and the DEFEND trial.

The Results

While results are confidential, the DEFEND website and outreach plan have contributed significantly to recruiting for the DEFEND trial.
